Questions About Umrah Tours

The most frequently asked questions about the scope, duration and departure cities of our Umrah programmes and the differences between the packages:

The hotel category, meal arrangements and group size also vary by package.

Our programmes are planned for 4, 7, 10, 15, 20, 23 and 33 days. The 33-day programme covers the whole month of Ramadan. For help in choosing the duration, see our article how many days does Umrah take.

Can elderly people and children join an Umrah tour?

Yes. For guests with limited walking ability, we recommend packages with hotels close to the Haram; if you need wheelchair assistance, please let us know when you register. Our advisor will tell you the prices for children and infants according to the date and room arrangement.

Umrah Worship and Preparation

Frequently asked questions about how Umrah is performed, ihram and preparation. To see all the steps on one page, visit our Umrah guide page.

How is Umrah performed?

You make your intention and enter ihram at the miqat; in Makkah, you perform tawaf of seven circuits (shawt) around the Kaaba, pray two rak’ahs of the tawaf prayer, walk sa’i between Safa and Marwah and then leave ihram by shaving or trimming your hair. Our guides move together with your group at every step.

What are the obligatory acts (fard) of Umrah?

According to the Hanafi school, the obligatory acts (fard) of Umrah are ihram and tawaf, while sa’i and shaving or trimming the hair are necessary acts (wajib).

Where do travellers from Türkiye enter ihram?

Those flying directly to Jeddah enter ihram on the plane when it is level with Juhfah (Rabigh); the ihram garments are put on before boarding. Those whose programme begins in Madinah enter ihram at the miqat of Dhul Hulayfah (Abyar Ali) on the way to Makkah.

How is ihram worn?

Men wear two pieces of unstitched white cloth, one wrapped around the waist and the other draped over the shoulders; women enter ihram in their usual clothing that meets the requirements of modest Islamic dress. For a practical explanation, see our article how to wear ihram.

When should you go on Umrah?

Umrah can be performed at any time of the year, except for the short period when visas are not issued because of the Hajj organisation. Autumn and winter are mild, while Ramadan and the holy nights (kandil) are the busiest times. You will find the details in our article when to go on Umrah.

Is an appointment needed to visit the Rawdah?

Yes. Visits to the Rawdah (al-Rawdah al-Mutahharah) are made with an appointment booked through Nusuk, Saudi Arabia’s official platform; our guides help the guests in our group with this.

Who can women travel with for Umrah?

On this matter, there are current regulations of the Saudi authorities as well as differing views among the schools of Islamic law. You can find the details in our article Umrah guide for women and ask our advisor for information that fits your situation.

Which documents are required for the visa?

A passport, a recent biometric photo and your identity details are sufficient. If a child under 18 is travelling with only one of their parents, notarised consent from the other parent may be requested.

How long does it take for the visa to be issued?

The time varies according to the volume of applications and the accuracy of the documents. Handing in your documents early, right after booking, speeds up the process. For details, see our article how to get an Umrah visa.

Can Umrah be performed on a tourist visa?
