The Uzbekistan Tour — Samarkand & Bukhara is organised for those who wish to explore the centres of learning and wisdom at the heart of the Silk Road and to follow in the footsteps of scholars such as Imam al-Bukhari and Bahauddin Naqshband.
Covering Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara, the programme takes you from the madrasas of Registan Square to the Shah-i-Zinda mausoleums, and from the Hazrati Imam Complex to the historic bazaars of Bukhara. At every site you visit, our expert guide shares the region’s tradition of scholarship and Sufism with you.
Day-by-Day Programme
- Day 1: Arrival in Tashkent, a city tour and the Hazrati Imam Complex; the library where the historic Mushaf is displayed.
- Day 2: Transfer to Samarkand; Registan Square and the Ulugh Beg, Sher-Dor and Tilya-Kori madrasas.
- Day 3: Bibi-Khanym Mosque, the Shah-i-Zinda mausoleum complex, the Ulugh Beg Observatory and Gur-e-Amir.
- Day 4: Visit to the Imam al-Bukhari Complex near Samarkand and transfer to Bukhara.
- Day 5: The madrasas of Bukhara, the Kalyan Minaret and Mosque, and the Bahauddin Naqshband Complex.
- Day 6: A free day in Bukhara, the area around Lyab-i Hauz and the domed bazaars; if you wish to visit Khiva, it can be added to the programme as an extra day.
- Day 7: Return flight via Tashkent.
Accommodation
Accommodation is planned in Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara in hotels with easy access to the city centres and historic districts, with breakfast included. The exact hotels and how the transfers between cities will be made are confirmed in writing in the final programme once the date has been finalised.

- The local currency is the Uzbek som; although card payments are becoming common in the big cities, it is practical to carry cash for the bazaars.
- The summer months are very hot; spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons for this walking-based programme.
- The schedule is arranged around prayer times, and restaurants that respect halal food requirements are chosen.

Is the tomb of Imam al-Bukhari included in the programme?
Yes. The Imam al-Bukhari Complex near Samarkand is included in the programme on the day of the transfer to Bukhara. The Bahauddin Naqshband Complex in Bukhara and the Hazrati Imam Complex in Tashkent are also visited.
When is the best time to visit Uzbekistan?
April–June and September–October are the most comfortable months in terms of temperature. In midsummer, daytime temperatures are high, so sightseeing is shifted to the mornings and evenings.
Is the food halal?
Food culture in Uzbekistan largely respects halal requirements. For the meals included in the programme, restaurants that respect these requirements are chosen; you can let us know about any special dietary needs when you book.
How long is the flight?
Direct flights from Istanbul to Tashkent take approximately 4.5–5 hours. The departure point and any connections are confirmed once the date has been finalised.
