Whether the days in Madinah come before or after Hajj depends on the flight and train schedules; the total duration is determined by the package structure. If the group travels on to Madinah after Hajj, the farewell tawaf is performed before leaving Makkah. The exact itinerary is shared in writing after booking.

Types of Hajj: Ifrad, Tamattu and Qiran

Hajj can be performed in three ways. In Hajj al-Ifrad, the intention is made for Hajj alone. In Hajj al-Tamattu, Umrah is performed first during the months of Hajj, the pilgrim leaves the state of ihram and then enters ihram again for Hajj on the Day of Tarwiyah. In Hajj al-Qiran, Umrah and Hajj are performed together in a single ihram. The vast majority of prospective pilgrims travelling from Türkiye choose Hajj al-Tamattu; in Tamattu and Qiran, the sacrifice of thanksgiving is wajib.

Sacrifice, Shaving the Head and Tawaf al-Ifadah

On the first day of Eid, after pebbles are thrown at Jamarat al-Aqabah, the sacrifice is offered; then, with the shaving of the head, most of the restrictions of ihram come to an end. Tawaf al-Ifadah, one of the obligatory acts (fard) of Hajj, is performed during the days of Eid; those performing Hajj al-Tamattu also perform sa’i after this tawaf. Accommodation closest to the Kaaba makes it easier to perform Tawaf al-Ifadah at a time when the crowds are relatively lighter.

The main factors that determine the price of premium Hajj are accommodation in the hotel class closest to the Kaaba, the room arrangement, the premium tents in Mina and Arafat, the high-speed train journey and the boutique group format. Personal expenses and services not listed in the contract are not included in the package; the status of items such as the sacrifice is clearly stated on the product page and in the contract.

The premium package provides no privilege whatsoever with regard to registration, priority or visas; these matters are subject to the same official rules for all prospective pilgrims. What you pay for are the services provided in accommodation, transport and personal attention.

Hajj is performed on specific days of the month of Dhul Hijjah; because it follows the Hijri calendar, it moves about 10-11 days earlier in the Gregorian calendar each year. Since the hotels closest to the Haram and the premium tent arrangements have limited capacity, it is important to start planning early for the premium package.

The most distinctive privilege of the premium Hajj package is accommodation in the hotel class closest to the Kaaba. Being able to reach the Haram with a walk of a few minutes makes it possible to pray the five daily prayers in congregation and to plan night worship and voluntary tawaf with ease. The greatest benefit of staying so close to the Haram becomes clear after the days at the holy sites. You can shake off the fatigue of Arafat, Muzdalifah and Mina by resting at the hotel, and time Tawaf al-Ifadah and the farewell tawaf for the hours when the crowds thin out. In Madinah, too, accommodation close to the Prophet’s Mosque makes it easier to visit the blessed Rawdah and to attend the dawn prayer.

From the moment you are met at the airport, all transport is carried out according to the organisation’s plan. In the premium package, the journey between Makkah and Madinah is made by high-speed train, which offers a shorter and less tiring transfer than a long road journey. Departure times and luggage arrangements are planned in advance according to the rail operator’s rules and communicated to you.

Transport on the days at the holy sites, however, depends on the times and routes set by the competent authorities. Outside the Hajj days, historic sites in Makkah such as Jabal al-Nour (the Cave of Hira) and Jabal Thawr are visited with a guide. In Madinah, alongside the Prophet’s Mosque and the blessed Rawdah, the Uhud Martyrs’ Cemetery, Quba Mosque, Masjid al-Qiblatayn and Jannat al-Baqi are visited.

Mina is a valley between Makkah and Muzdalifah that turns into a tent city during the days of Hajj. Pilgrims go to Mina on the Day of Tarwiyah and stay there during Eid and the days of Tashreeq to stone the Jamarat. The Mina tents are the accommodation areas used for worship, rest and meals during these days. At Arafat, too, the day of standing is spent in tents.

The placement of the tents and their allocation to pilgrim groups are determined by the arrangements of the competent authorities. On the days at the holy sites, patience and solidarity matter as much as comfort: making room in the crowd, helping the elderly and avoiding arguments are part of the etiquette of ihram.

In large convoys, it is difficult for the guide to attend to each guest individually. The boutique group format removes this problem: the guide knows everyone in the group, keeps track of their health and answers questions about the Hajj rites without delay. Gathering at meeting points, moving together during transfers between the holy sites and keeping to the stoning times are also much easier in a small group.

In Türkiye, Hajj organisations are carried out under the authority of the Diyanet and within the relevant legislation.
