RotaNur Thick Cotton Ihram was made for those who put coverage and a full-bodied texture first. The 1500-gram, 100% cotton fabric, with its checked jacquard towel surface, looks both elegant and reassuring. Its wide size of 115×230 centimetres per piece lets tall and larger-framed customers wrap the cloth comfortably around the waist.

About the Product

One of the concerns we hear most often when people choose an ihram is that thin fabric becomes see-through when wet. The thick cotton ihram answers this concern directly: thanks to its high weight and dense weave, it helps maintain coverage even when wet. The checked jacquard pattern is simply the texture of the fabric itself; it contains no print or dye, and the ihram stays white. The wide size allows the izar to be wrapped twice around the waist and the rida to cover the shoulders and back generously. Thick fabric takes longer to dry than thinner models, which is why it is found more comfortable especially in the cooler seasons and in air-conditioned spaces. According to supplier information, there may be slight variations in size and weight due to production.

Key Features

  • 100% cotton towel weave with a checked jacquard pattern
  • Total weight of the set approx. 1500 grams
  • Wide size of approx. 115×230 cm per piece
  • Dense weave that helps maintain coverage even when wet
  • White fabric with no print or dye; the pattern comes from the weave alone
  • Keeps you warmer in air-conditioned spaces and on cool evenings
  • Zippered storage bag

How to Use

  1. Wash the ihram once before your trip and practise wrapping it at home.
  2. Wrap the wide izar twice around your waist, fold the top edge inwards and secure it with a belt.
  3. Drape the rida generously over your shoulders; you can fold any extra length over your arm.
  4. As thick fabric takes a long time to dry, hang the ihram in an airy spot early in the day.
  5. Do not put it in your bag until it is completely dry; towelling that stays damp can develop an odour.

Using It on Your Umrah and Hajj Journey

While in ihram, men do not wear sewn clothing; they wear the ihram, made of two unsewn pieces of cloth, keep their heads uncovered and choose slippers or sandals that leave the top of the foot uncovered. Women, on the other hand, enter ihram in their ordinary clothing that meets the requirements of modest Islamic dress; they do not cover their faces or hands. An ihram belt or a waist bag can be used to secure the ihram and to carry items such as money and a phone. As wearing fragrance is prohibited while in ihram, make sure your care products are unscented. For detailed information, you can read our Umrah Guide and Hajj Guide.

Who Is It For?

It is suitable for tall or larger-framed customers, for those who see coverage as the most important criterion, and for those travelling for Umrah in the cooler period between November and February. Anyone who dislikes feeling cold in air-conditioned hotels and mosques will also appreciate the thick texture. If you are travelling in the summer months, we recommend the Muslin Ihram as a second set.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the checked pattern a problem for an ihram?

The pattern comes from the weave of the fabric itself; it contains no print or coloured thread, and the ihram looks white. In its guidance, Diyanet (Türkiye’s Presidency of Religious Affairs) describes a white, clean ihram as the preferred choice, and this product meets that preference.

Will 1500 grams be too hot in summer?

During the hottest hours, thick fabric can retain more heat than thinner models. If you are travelling in the summer months, you might consider this ihram for the cooler hours and air-conditioned spaces, and the muslin model for daytime.

Who needs the wide size?

For customers taller than about 1.85 metres or with a larger waist, it is important that the izar wraps comfortably around the waist. The wide size gives these wearers extra comfort.

How long does it take to dry?

It depends on the weather, but thick towelling takes longer to dry than thinner ihrams. We recommend hanging a wet ihram in an airy spot without wringing it.

Does it take up a lot of space in a suitcase?

Because of its higher weight, it is slightly bulkier than thinner models. Rolling it up before placing it in your suitcase saves space.
