How to Use

1. Wash the ihram once before your trip and practise wrapping it at home.
2. Wrap the wide izar twice around your waist, fold the top edge inwards and secure it with a belt.
3. Drape the rida generously over your shoulders; you can fold any extra length over your arm.
4. As thick fabric takes a long time to dry, hang the ihram in an airy spot early in the day.
5. Do not put it in your bag until it is completely dry; towelling that stays damp can develop an odour.

Using It on Your Umrah and Hajj Journey

While in ihram, men do not wear sewn clothing; they wear the ihram, made of two unsewn pieces of cloth, keep their heads uncovered and choose slippers or sandals that leave the top of the foot uncovered. Women, on the other hand, enter ihram in their ordinary clothing that meets the requirements of modest Islamic dress; they do not cover their faces or hands. An ihram belt or a waist bag can be used to secure the ihram and to carry items such as money and a phone.
