A muslin Hajj ihram is an increasingly popular alternative to classic towelling ihrams. Muslin is an airy, soft fabric made by weaving several layers of fine cotton gauze together. The RotaNur Muslin Hajj Ihram consists of two pieces, each measuring 110×220 cm. With Makkah’s hot climate in mind, it is made for those preparing for Hajj who are looking for a cool, light feel and who want to wash their ihram at the hotel and wear it again soon after.

About the Product

The air trapped between the layers of muslin gives the fabric both softness and breathability. As it is made of flat, fine layers rather than the looped surface of a towelling ihram, it dries more quickly after washing. By nature, muslin has a slightly crinkled look; this is part of the fabric’s character and needs no ironing. The fabric becomes a little softer with every wash. The set weighs approximately 1,300 grams. The cloths are not tailored to the shape of the body; the edges are simply hemmed to prevent fraying.

Key Features

  • Multi-layer cotton muslin weave
  • Breathable structure with a soft feel on the skin
  • Dries faster than a towelling ihram
  • Two pieces, each 110×220 cm
  • Natural crinkled look that needs no ironing
  • Presented in a lidded box, suitable as a gift

How to Use

  1. Before first use, wash in lukewarm water with an unscented detergent; muslin may gather slightly in the first wash.
  2. Wrap the izar (the lower cloth) around your waist with a generous overlap; as the fabric is fine, securing it with a belt adds comfort.
  3. Place the rida (the upper cloth) over your shoulders; during the tawafs in which idtiba is performed, leave your right shoulder uncovered.
  4. After washing, shake it out without wringing and hang it to dry in the shade.
  5. When folding, keeping the fabric flat without twisting it helps the weave stay neat.

Using It on Your Umrah and Hajj Journey

While in ihram, men do not wear stitched clothing; they wear the ihram, made of two unstitched cloths, leave their heads uncovered and choose slippers or sandals that leave the top of the foot uncovered. Women, on the other hand, enter ihram in their normal modest clothing and do not cover their faces or hands. An ihram belt or a waist bag can be used to hold the ihram in place and to carry items such as money and a phone. As applying scent is prohibited while in ihram, make sure that your care products are unscented. For detailed information, take a look at our Umrah Guide and our Hajj Guide.

Who Is It For?

It suits those who are sensitive to heat, those who find towelling fabric heavy and hot, and those who want to hand-wash their ihram at the hotel and dry it quickly. Taking one towelling set and one muslin set on a Hajj journey is also a popular combination. The product is for adult men.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a muslin ihram see-through?

Because muslin is woven in multiple layers, it is not as thin as single-layer gauze. As it may look thinner when wet, we recommend wrapping the izar with a generous overlap.

Should I choose a muslin or a towelling ihram?

A towelling ihram is fuller and absorbs sweat, while muslin is more breathable and dries quickly. On a long Hajj journey, having one set of each is a good balance.

Does a muslin ihram crease?

Muslin naturally has a slightly crinkled look, and this is part of the fabric’s character. No ironing is needed; simply shake it out and hang it up after washing.

How many sets should I buy?

At least two sets are recommended for Hajj. This product is a single set; you can choose your second set in either muslin or towelling.
