The departure point for our Umrah tours from Izmir is Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB). On the day of departure, we meet our guests at the airport; baggage drop, ticket and passport checks are carried out with the assistance of our guides. Before the flight, a short briefing is given on ihram, the rites of Umrah and the flow of the programme.

On 15 of the 17 dates departing from Izmir, the route starts directly in Makkah or Madinah; on the other 2 dates, the flight connects via Istanbul, and the connecting flight is included in the package price. On programmes that start in Makkah, the first Umrah is performed right after arrival; on programmes that start in Madinah, the Prophet’s Mosque is visited first, and guests then enter ihram at the miqat of Dhul Hulayfah before travelling on to Makkah. On arrival in Saudi Arabia, transfers from the airport to the hotel, journeys between the cities and visit programmes are made by air-conditioned coach. On the way back, a transfer from the hotel to the airport is likewise provided, and our guests are welcomed back in Izmir. Guests joining from nearby provinces such as Manisa, Aydın and Uşak can ask our advisors for information about getting to the departure point.

When Umrah prices are calculated, the most decisive factor is the hotel’s distance from the Kaaba. On our economy programmes from Izmir, the hotels in Makkah are 2.5-4 km from the Haram, and a shuttle service runs at every prayer time. This distance falls to 300-500 metres on walking-distance programmes, 200-300 metres on luxury programmes and 50-100 metres on premium programmes. Elderly guests and families with children are far more comfortable in hotels close to the Haram.

Room sharing also has a direct effect on the price per person. A room for 4 is the most economical option; in rooms for 3 and 2, the price per person rises step by step. Couples who want to travel just the two of them choose a room for 2, while large families prefer a room for 4. The time of year matters too: blessed Ramadan, the mid-term school holiday and the blessed holy nights (kandil) are the periods of highest demand.

The length of the programme and the flight plan are the final factors. Short programmes are budget-friendly for working people with limited leave, while longer programmes are ideal for those who want to devote more time to worship. Guests living in Izmir fly direct on some dates and via Istanbul on others; connecting flights are included in the package price. Umrah is an act of worship that can be performed for most of the year, outside the Hajj period. In the 2026-2027 season, our first group from Izmir sets off in November 2026, and dates continue until March 2027. Temperatures start to fall as autumn progresses; in the first weeks of the season, the crowds are relatively small and prices are favourable. The mid-term break in November (16-20 November 2026) is the first busy period and a popular choice for families with children.

In December and January, demand rises as the three holy months begin. In the 2026-2027 season, the holy night of Raghaib falls on 10 December 2026, the holy night of the Mi’raj (the Ascension) on 4 January 2027 and the holy night of Bara’ah on 22 January 2027. For guests who wish to be at the Haram on these nights, programmes covering the holy night dates are organised. The mid-term school holiday runs from 25 January to 5 February 2027 and is the most convenient time for teachers and students to perform Umrah.

Blessed Ramadan begins on 8 February 2027, and Eid al-Fitr falls on 9 March 2027. Ramadan Umrah is the most precious time of all, when fasts are kept and tarawih prayers are performed at the Haram, and Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Power) is spent in worship; for this reason, places fill up early. The departures from Izmir are spread across the following months: November 2026, December 2026, January 2027, March 2027. Preparation for Umrah should begin a few weeks before departure. The first step is your passport: it must be valid for at least 6 months from the return date. If you do not have a passport, or yours is about to expire, make an appointment at the civil registration office in Izmir and start the process early. Umrah visa procedures are handled by us after registration; all we need is a clear scan of your passport and a biometric photo with a white background.

Health preparation is just as important as the paperwork. Umrah involves walking for long periods during tawaf and sa’i; walking regularly in the weeks before your journey will improve your fitness. You can ask your family doctor about the seasonal flu vaccine and current health requirements. Umrah is completed in four stages: ihram, tawaf, sa’i and shaving or trimming the hair. The first stage is ihram: before reaching the miqat boundary, a ghusl (full ritual bath) is taken, men wrap themselves in the two unstitched pieces of ihram cloth, the intention for Umrah is made and the talbiyah is begun. After entering ihram, pilgrims avoid actions such as applying fragrance, cutting their nails and trimming their hair or beard.

The second stage is tawaf. Keeping the Holy Kaaba on your left, you walk seven circuits, starting from the corner of the Black Stone (al-Hajar al-Aswad). At the start of each circuit, the Black Stone is saluted. When tawaf is finished, two rak’ahs of prayer are performed behind the Station of Ibrahim (Maqam Ibrahim), followed by a drink of Zamzam water. The third stage is sa’i: starting from Safa, seven circuits (shawt) are walked between the hills of Safa and Marwah, four going and three returning.

In the final stage, men have their hair shaved or shortened, while women cut a fingertip’s length from the ends of their hair; with this, the restrictions of ihram come to an end. In our groups, the first Umrah is performed alongside our guide, with the supplications recited together. Throughout the programme, guests who wish can enter ihram again from Ji’ranah and Tan’im to perform additional Umrahs. Using a radio headset system, our guides can keep up their explanations even in the crowds.

On our packages departing from Izmir, accommodation is planned at different distances and standards depending on the package you choose. On economy packages, guests stay in 3-4 star hotels with a shuttle service 2.5-4 km from the Haram in Makkah, and in hotels within 200-300 metres’ walking distance of the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah. The hotels in Makkah are 300-500 metres from the Haram on walking-distance packages, 200-300 metres on luxury packages and 50-100 metres on premium packages.

At our hotels, breakfast and dinner are served as an open buffet; on Ramadan programmes, suhoor and iftar are provided. Rooms are planned for 2, 3 or 4 people; families can stay in the same room, while guests travelling alone share a room with travellers of the same gender. Hotel names are finalised according to the group’s travel date and are communicated to you before departure. For large families from Izmir, requests for adjoining rooms are noted at registration.

On an Umrah journey, small precautions make a big difference. The Haram has dozens of gates; on the first day, learn the gate number your guide shows you and the direction of your hotel. Save your hotel’s location on your phone and join the group’s messaging group. If you set off early for the daily prayers, you will find a place more easily and be able to return without getting caught in the crowds.

As temperatures can rise during the day, keep water with you and choose light-coloured, loose clothing. Do not rush during tawaf and sa’i; our guides recommend the less crowded hours for elderly guests. Keep your passport in a safe place at the hotel and carry a photocopy with you. For your cash needs, activate your bank card for use abroad before you set off.

Respecting silence and cleanliness in the mosques, carrying your shoes in a bag and not squeezing into the prayer rows all help to preserve the atmosphere of worship. It is best to take your souvenir photos outside the areas of worship. Alongside worship, our programmes include guided visits to important sites in Islamic history. In Makkah, guests visit Jabal al-Nour, home to the Cave of Hira where the first revelation came to our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him); Mount Thawr, where he took refuge during the Hijrah; Arafat, where the standing (wuquf), the most important pillar of Hajj, takes place; and Muzdalifah and Mina. Many Companions, first among them our mother Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her), are buried in the Jannat al-Mu’alla cemetery.

In Madinah al-Munawwarah, the prayers performed at the Prophet’s Mosque and the visit to the Rawdah are the heart of the programme. Quba Mosque, the first mosque in Islam; Masjid al-Qiblatayn, where the qibla was changed from Jerusalem to the Kaaba; Mount Uhud and the Uhud martyrs’ cemetery; the site of the Battle of the Trench (Khandaq); and the Jannat al-Baqi cemetery are all toured with commentary from our guides.
