When comparing packages, we recommend looking not only at the price but also at the hotel’s distance from the Haram, the meal arrangements, the group size and the type of flight. How Do You Travel to Umrah from Ankara?

Departure point, flight route and transfers

The departure point used on our Umrah tours from Ankara is Ankara Esenboğa Airport (ESB). On the group’s departure day, we meet our guests at the airport; baggage drop, ticketing and passport checks are completed with the assistance of our guides. Before the flight, a short briefing is given on ihram, the rites of Umrah and the flow of the programme.

On 32 of the 39 dates departing from Ankara, the route begins directly in Makkah or Madinah; on 7 dates, the flight connects via Istanbul, and the connecting flight is included in the package price. On programmes that begin in Makkah, the first Umrah is performed immediately after arrival; on programmes that begin in Madinah, the Prophet’s Mosque is visited first, and then ihram is entered at the miqat of Dhul Hulayfah before continuing to Makkah. The route for each date is shown in the Departure column of the table.

On arrival in Saudi Arabia, transfers from the airport to the hotel, intercity journeys and visit programmes are all made by air-conditioned coach. On the way back, a transfer from the hotel to the airport is provided in the same way, and our guests are welcomed back in Ankara. Guests joining from nearby provinces such as Kırıkkale, Kırşehir, Çankırı, Bolu and Yozgat can ask our advisors for information about getting to the departure point.

What Determines the Price of Umrah Tours from Ankara?

Hotel distance, room type, season and duration

The first factor that determines the price of Umrah tours from Ankara is the type of accommodation. On economy packages, the hotels in Makkah are 2.5-4 kilometres from the Haram, and transport is provided by a free shuttle at prayer times. On walking-distance packages, the hotels are 300-500 metres from the Haram; on luxury packages, 200-300 metres; and on premium packages, just 50-100 metres. The closer the hotel is to the Haram, the higher both the comfort and the price.

The second factor is the room type. On the same tour, a guest staying in a room for 4 pays a lower price per person than a guest staying in a room for 2. Families and groups of friends usually keep their budget in check by choosing a room for 3 or 4. The third factor is the season: prices rise during busy periods such as Ramadan, the mid-term school holiday and the holy nights (kandil), while dates at the start of the season are generally more affordable.

Finally, the duration and the type of flight affect the price. There is a clear difference between a 7-day programme and a 23-day programme because of the cost of accommodation and meals. For journeys from Ankara, the price is usually the same whether you take a direct flight or connect in Istanbul; on dates with a connection, the domestic connecting flight is included in the package price. You can see this information in every row of our table and easily choose the date that best fits your budget.

When Is the Best Time to Go on Umrah from Ankara?

The 2026-2027 season, holy nights, the mid-term school holiday and Ramadan

There is no set time for Umrah; it can be performed at any time of year outside the days of Hajj. In the 2026-2027 season, our first group from Ankara sets off in October 2026. With calmer crowds and favourable prices, the start of the season is very well suited to guests performing Umrah for the first time; as autumn progresses, the weather also starts to cool. The mid-term break of 16-20 November 2026 offers families with school-age children an opportunity for short programmes.

As the three sacred months (Rajab, Sha’ban and Ramadan) approach, Makkah and Madinah become busier. Laylat al-Raghaib is on 10 December 2026, Laylat al-Mi’raj on 4 January 2027 and Laylat al-Bara’ah on 22 January 2027; for those who wish to spend these nights in the blessed lands, our programmes are planned to cover the dates of the holy nights. The mid-term school holiday, from 25 January to 5 February 2027, is the period most favoured by our guests from the world of education.

The peak of the season is the blessed month of Ramadan. Throughout Ramadan, which begins on 8 February 2027, praying tarawih at the Haram, breaking your fast in the courtyard of the Prophet’s Mosque and spending Laylat al-Qadr in worship facing the Kaaba is a priceless experience. Eid al-Fitr falls on 9 March 2027. Our departure dates from Ankara are concentrated in the following months: October 2026, November 2026, December 2026, January 2027, February 2027 and March 2027.

Preparing for Umrah: Documents and Packing List

What you need to complete before you set off

Documents are the foundation of your pre-travel preparation. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your return date; if it is not, we recommend starting the passport renewal process in Ankara before you register. Once your registration is complete, your Umrah visa application is made by our advisors; all we ask of you is a scan of your passport and a biometric photo.

Documents you need to have with you

  • A valid passport (at least 6 months from your return)
  • A biometric photo (white background)
  • Your national identity booklet or identity card
  • A letter of parental consent for minors
  • A medical report for any medicines you take regularly

What to pack in your suitcase

  • Two sets of ihram garments, an ihram belt and ihram sandals (men)
  • Comfortable, loose-fitting modest clothing (women)
  • Unscented personal care products
  • A lightweight prayer mat, prayer beads and a booklet of supplications
  • A cardigan or light jacket suited to the season (evenings in Madinah can be cool)
  • Comfortable walking shoes and a spare pair of slippers
  • Personal medicines, sunscreen and lip balm
  • A power bank and charging cables

For physical preparation, we recommend starting daily walks a few weeks before your journey; tawaf and sa’i together involve walking several kilometres. Consult your doctor about vaccinations and health requirements. At our pre-departure seminar, every step from entering ihram to shaving the hair is explained in a hands-on way; you can also send your questions to our 24/7 support line.

How Is Umrah Performed? Umrah Step by Step

Ihram, tawaf, sa’i and shaving the hair

Umrah consists of four basic steps, and our guides stay with our group at every one of them. Ihram: Before crossing the miqat boundary, pilgrims enter ihram, make the intention and recite the talbiyah. On programmes that travel to Makkah by air, ihram is entered in Türkiye or on the plane when it is level with the miqat; guests coming from Madinah enter ihram at the miqat of Dhul Hulayfah.

Tawaf: On arrival at the Haram, seven circuits of tawaf are made around the Kaaba, starting in line with the Black Stone (al-Hajar al-Aswad). After tawaf, two rak’ahs of the tawaf prayer are performed behind the Station of Ibrahim (Maqam Ibrahim), and Zamzam water is drunk. Sa’i: Starting at the hill of Safa and finishing at the hill of Marwah, pilgrims pass between the two hills seven times; in the section marked by green lights, men jog lightly.

Shaving the hair: After sa’i, men shave or shorten their hair, and women cut a small amount from the ends of their hair. With this, pilgrims leave the state of ihram and the Umrah is complete. On our programme, the first Umrah is performed together as a group with the guide; on the following days, additional Umrahs from the miqats of Ji’ranah and Tan’im are organised for guests who wish to perform them. Observing the restrictions of ihram throughout Umrah, being patient in the crowds and following the guide’s instructions ensure that the worship is completed in peace.

Where Do Our Guests from Ankara Stay in Makkah and Madinah?

Hotel distances, meals and room arrangements by package

On our packages from Ankara, accommodation is planned at different distances and standards depending on the package you choose. On economy packages, guests stay in 3-4 star hotels with a shuttle service 2.5-4 km from the Haram in Makkah, and in hotels within 200-300 metres’ walking distance of the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah. The Makkah hotels are 300-500 metres from the Haram on walking-distance packages, 200-300 metres on luxury packages and 50-100 metres on premium packages.

At our hotels, breakfast and dinner are served as an open buffet; on Ramadan programmes, suhoor and iftar are provided. Rooms are arranged as doubles, triples or quadruples; families can stay in the same room, while guests travelling alone share a room with passengers of the same gender. Hotel names are confirmed according to the group’s travel date and shared with you before departure. For Ankara’s large families, requests for rooms next to each other are noted at registration.

Things to Keep in Mind During Umrah

Practical tips for a peaceful journey in the holy lands

To make the days you spend in the blessed lands peaceful, there are a few practical points to keep in mind. The Haram and the Prophet’s Mosque cover very large areas; so that you do not become separated from your group, be sure to note the meeting gate and time set by your guide. Always carry your hotel card and your guide’s phone number with you. Leaving early before prayer times helps you find a comfortable place in the crowds.

In Saudi Arabia, the weather can be hot, especially around midday; drink plenty of water and Zamzam, and use an umbrella to protect yourself from the sun. To avoid tiring your feet on long walks, take rest breaks at the hotel during the day. Keep your valuables in the hotel safe, and carry your bag in front of you in crowded areas. Check the price tags when shopping; leaving your shopping for dates, Zamzam water and souvenirs until the last days of the programme makes things easier on your luggage.

Taking care not to disturb others during worship, and not to disturb the peace of worshippers when taking photos, is part of the etiquette of Umrah. There are separate prayer areas for our female guests at the Haram; our guides show them these areas on the first day. If you have any health problem, simply let your guide know; you will be referred for the necessary care under your travel health insurance.

Places to Visit in Makkah and Madinah

The blessed sites visited on our guided programmes

Every day spent in the holy lands is enriched by visits that combine worship with a knowledge of history. In Makkah, Jabal al-Nour and the Cave of Hira, Mount Thawr, Jabal al-Rahmah (the Mount of Mercy) at Arafat, Muzdalifah and Mina are visited, with explanations from our guide. At Jannat al-Mu’alla, the grave of our mother Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her) is visited, and the place of these sites in the life of the Prophet (sirah) is explained in detail.

In Madinah, our days are spent with the daily prayers at the Prophet’s Mosque and a visit to the Rawdah. At Quba Mosque, the hadiths on the virtue of praying two rak’ahs there are recalled; Masjid al-Qiblatayn, the Seven Mosques, Mount Uhud and the Uhud martyrs’ cemetery, where the grave of Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) lies, are also visited. At Jannat al-Baqi, supplications are made at the graves of the Prophet’s family (Ahl al-Bayt) and the Companions. Free time is also set aside for the date orchards and for shopping.

RotaNur Umrah packages differ in the distance of the hotel in Makkah from the Haram and in hotel class. You can see which packages are available on dates departing from Ankara in the table above; the general differences are as follows:

Price Differences by Room Type

On Umrah packages, the price is determined by the number of people sharing the room. In the date table, prices for quad, triple and double rooms (4, 3 and 2 people) are shown separately for each date:

Room type Who is it suitable for? Price per person
Quad room Families and groups of friends The most affordable price per person
Triple room A parent and one child, or three friends Slightly higher than a quad room
Double room Couples and those who want more privacy The highest of the room types

If the price for a room type appears blank in the date table, the price for that date may not have been announced yet; in that case, our advisor will give you the latest information. Prices for children and infants are also provided separately according to the date and room arrangement.

A quad room is the most suitable option for families and groups of friends; couples and guests who want more privacy prefer a double room. Simply state your request to stay in the same room when you register.
